Well, I was on the cusp of updating le blogroll (one of us requested fafnir’s… whatever it is… and I’m about to put up IMAO* in sheer self-defense), when I actually looked at the blogroll. It’s pretty chaotic; does anybody actually care about how there’s no grouping by theme or anything? Remember, I can’t alphabetize, but I can make a bunch of smaller lists and put them one after the other.
Also, if anybody has a suggestion for funny blogsites – and I mean truely funny, not Funny Because They Believe In Ideology X, The Poor Deluded Dears – feel free to share.
Moe
*Because he’s funny and a semi-guilty pleasure, that’s why. And because Front Line Voices is OK in its own right.
Frank jr and Scrappleface can both be very funny. Not that it’s a blog, but the Onion always deserves a mention.
We could divide them into Moe’s, Katherine’s and von’s recommendations. I am majorly in favor of this, since I can’t read a good 10-20% of our blogroll without smoke coming out of my ears anyway.
“since I can’t read a good 10-20% of our blogroll without smoke coming out of my ears anyway.”
Hey, neither can I. 🙂
Seriously, a pick by blogger thing has its points.
Big Picnic is worth a chuckle.
Also funny: astonishingtales.com…
I tried to use the screenplay generator to come up with an Obsidian Wings movie, but no luck. But Tacitus is pretty funny. (You have to go to the site to see what I’m talking about.)
Moe,
I don’t see Scrappleface up there.
Why not tell people that the blogroll was created as art?
Suggest that close study of it, coupled with inner reflection will lead to a subtley nuanced change in personal perception of the unknowable.
Has anyone else noticed a jump when comments loads? When I first loaded it jumped down to Moe’s first comment – cut off Katherine’s and spc67’s then when I posted my comment it reloaded starting at the top.
Many thanks for the suggestions so far; I’d fiddle with the blogroll further, but I’m apparently just stopped being able to stay up as late as I used to. I mean, like in the last week or so.
RDB, just so you know, weird things happen in TypePad from time to time… and then they stop. It’s all very odd, but not really in a dynamic, exciting way. 🙂
Oh my God, Moe, you gave me such a scare. I clicked on IMAO and the ad at the top of the page led me to believe you had put G. Gordon Liddy on our blogroll. But it’s just an ad. (Tell me it’s just an ad.)
And now I need to go to bed.
Just an ad, Katherine – but that’s Frank J for you. Depending on who you ask, he’s either doing an absolutely hysterical sendup of what They think We act and think, or else he’s yet another example of what passes for humor among the Right. 🙂
But that Front Line Voices thing is a different story entirely.
I’ll cop to requesting that the Fafblog be added. Anyone who goes on a “light snacking strike” (because going on a “hunger strike” is too hard) deserves our support.
And I kinda like RDB‘s blogroll as art suggestion.
I’ll second the recommendation for Scrappleface — his humor makes my day sometimes. He’s not always perfect, but comedy’s like that.
On a more general note, I’d also like to see you add “Intel Dump”, by Phil Carter; “Just Another Soldier”; and “Real Live Preacher”.
