Short version: the hardliners in Iran decided to ban quite a lot of reformist candidates from running from office, which was naturally enough objected to: it looks like said objections had gotten enough support to resolve this particular crisis. But just this one: the problems haven’t gone away. I think I got that all right.
Now, I can never accurately tell just how serious the situation is in Iraq (I’ve confidently declared X to be the Day of Counter-Revolution on at least three different dates in the last two years), so I don’t know whether or not this will be the thing that sparks the retrieval of Iranian freedom. But may that spark alight soon, and may it ignite to liberty in as peaceful a manner as is possible.
(Via… heck, just go read and bookmark Pejman: he’s the one keeping track of this – and better than I would have. Most of those links were his, in other words: I just threw all together. You can also check out this forum: I think that they’re involved in this project we’ve been seeing links for).
