They went after the Canadian reporter for writing this story, it seems. I don’t know if she’s been arrested yet, but they’ve said they intend to charge her.

But on further reflection I’d just as soon not excerpt an article for which a reporter may be jailed, at least not without the express written consent of major league baseball, a.k.a. Moe and von.)
I see why she was the one targetted. It goes into much more detail than any other source I’ve seen about the charges against Arar, including some that were new to me. Here is a link to a NY Times article on Tabligh Jamaat, the Muslim missionary group to which the leaked documents tied Arar.
It’s quite an article. I’m embarrassed for having missed it. It gives a better understanding of the basis on which Arar and Almalki were suspected. But it also gives still more evidence of collaboration between Canadian and U.S. intelligence and Arar’s interrogators/torturers. Read the whole thing, and make of it what you will.

Katherine, unless they’ve moved the border drastically south while I wasn’t looking, this site is not under Canadian jurisdiction (said jurisdiction has never impressed me with its freedom of speech/press codes), so, yeah, you’ve got my express written consent. 🙂

There’s a link there to a story re. the search of the journalist’s (O’Neill’s) home and office. O’Neill was interviewed on CBC Radio today. She didn’t indicate whether she thought she’d be charged. The consensus (between her and the interviewer) was that the main point of the search of her home and office was intimidation–10 cops were present, which was thought to be overkill. Her cat assaulted several cops.
