Remember the guys who turned a Chevy pickup truck into a boat and drove it from Cuba to Key West, only to be stopped by the Coast Guard and sent back to Cuba?
Well, this time they’ve gone with a 1959 Buick, instead.
(Via Matthew Stinson, who in an unrelated story is getting ready to go to China; I doubt that he’s driving there, at least. Either way, safe trip, dude.)
Moe
PS: Oh, yes, almost forgot.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: LET THEM IN THIS TIME, DAMN IT.
when is our moronic farce of a cuba policy going to end?
“when is our moronic farce of a cuba policy going to end?”
Five minutes after Castro’s death rattle: American Cuba policy for the last thirty years has effectively been, “Sh*t, it’s not like the bast*rd’s immortal, right? Right?” – and that’s not going to change until it’s been validated by the bast*rd actually dying.
Moe’s right about the timing…he’ll hardly be cold before the US warms up to his replacement.
What an incredible story that lunatic’s life has been…I have close friends who despise him with a blinding fury, but I have to admit a reluctanct respect for his longevity.
Personally, I just want to visit Havana before it’s all snapped up by Donald Trump.

Now you’ve got me thinking of “Fidel the Zombie”, and wondering how that will intersect with FDR-as-ninja. I’m now picturing the Bay of Pigs invasion as an attempt to use ninja skills to remove the zombie menace once and for all.
I’m also thinking of “Braaaains… braaaains for the revolution…”. It’s all your fault, damn you. 🙂
I thought you’all had a law about allowing Cuban asylum seekers in.
“Under U.S. immigration policy, Cubans who reach U.S. shores are allowed to stay while those caught at sea are usually returned.”
Right. I knew that.

Darn Moe, I was going to blog this. A ’59 Buick and with that paint job? These guys must be allowed in.
Yes, let them in. Would that every immigrant could prove his/her personal ingenuity and work ethic in such an obvious way.
Moe, you’d be amazed at the sea mileage of 1980 Suburban I’m driving to China 😉
The soon-to-be-senior Senator from my state, Bill Nelson, has been tacking to the right of the Bush administration on the embargo and other Castro-related issues. I wish somebody would get him to bring up the Cuban A-Team on the Senate floor and point out what a disgrace our refugee policy is.
