This is why I don’t miss television.

Stuff like this.

(pause)

Freaking server must be down. Anyway, it was the Quiznos ad. You know the one, I’m sure: the one with those weird hamster things that fascinated people in the same way that a cobra fascinates a bird. Sure, you laughed – but you laughed nervously. Well, at least I did, fuddy-duddy that I am.

(another pause)

Nobody uses that word anymore, do they.

  1. Rodents! Always good for selling foodstuffs…
What the heck were they thinking? Is Chris Lehane doing product commercials these days?

  2. Closing slogan should be:
“Quisno’s: our ad agency smokes entirely way too much crack!”
I mean, those ads seem perversely bad.

  3. Yeah, my wife and I actually thought that they were a goof and we were watching public access or something.
    Those ads are just wrong.

  4. Someone showed me that link and it didn’t help. Those are some nasty-ass puppets with bad teeth and why anyone would want to have them shown next to food — food that I’d have to purchase, no less — is beyond me. That was the bad crack they were smoking, alright.

  5. They had an ad exec from Quiznos on the local morning show in LA explaining that they are some kind of South American monkey, and not hamsters or horribly disfigured sandwiches. Apparently they had a board meeting where someone pitched this idea and the board agreed this would be a good idea. He didn’t mention crack, but I think it was implied.

  6. You all take this commercial WAY too seriously! I Love that commercial! So does my husband. WE LOVE THE SUBS! USE ANY COUPON!!
