Wow. I mean, the new layout for Matthew Yglesias’ site looks great and everything, but the way he hacked the blogroll down… yikes. I was almost expecting faint splashes of red everywhere. Well, OK, maybe not red, but the color of whatever bloglinks use for blood. Well, if they were, like, alive and stuff.
(pause)
Right. Anyway… if there are any refugees out there (besides Counterspin*: weep, wail and gnash your teeth in the Outer Darkness for all I care, Hesiod) smarting over your link-loss, post a link to ’em here (with a suitably good example post) and we’ll take a look. A bunch of readers here have their own blogs, too, so you might come out ahead on the Ecosystem rankings (assuming that they ever update) after all. Seems the least we can do in your time of need – and, yeah, blogs that are already linked by us can play too, of course.
Moe “Never had a Matthew Yglesias link to lose, alas” Lane
*Not that I remember if he ever actually had a link from Matthew. Also, I would like to remind Rittenhouse of our BIG, HONKING WONKETTE LINK… heh. Did Matthew even link to him, either?
I’m among the wailing legions who lost one, but I already have a link here. That damned reverse-capitalization-paying-back-years-of-historical-injustice-againt-Yglesiases-everywhere thing put me toward the end anyway, but what’s the point only linking to blogs everyone knows about? What? I do that? Hurm.
Matthew hadn’t updated his blogroll in… a very long time; more than a year? I’d been wondering how long he was going to go without updating the rest of his sidebars, withlinks to “recent articles” written in September of last year, but he appears to have been waiting for the Full Redesign.
Pick me, Pick me. Oh I’m already over there on your blogroll.
Did I ever thank you for that? Thank you!
I for one prefer Matt’s old design. (I’m conservative and hate change so keep that in mind). It seemed easier to read because 2/3 of the page was his text. Now it is an itty-bitty column in the middle. I guess I need a bigger monitor.
Moe, do you have any grandmothers left? Or have you sold those for links?
Just curious.
“Moe, do you have any grandmothers left? Or have you sold those for links?”
I’m going to assume that this was meant to be a joke, not a deliberate violation of the Posting Rules. The original post was certainly meant to be an example of the former.
Besides, I don’t pander: I whore. Subtle yet important difference.
Moe
Sorry, I’m not good at including smileys…
Matt was brutal with links when he reorganized. I commiserate with everyone.
I hang out there, and Tacitus, and here, use Calpundit as my linklist, but comment very little.
Crooked Timber so I may bask in brilliancy. 🙂
Has Yglesias become a big deal? Don’t follow traffic much, is he becoming a major site?
I’ll continue to shill for econopundit. An ex-academic now in the private sector who can run the Fair model. Always a decent read.
“…use Calpundit as my linklist….”
Grr. (Nothing personal; only because I was dropped.)
“Has Yglesias become a big deal? Don’t follow traffic much, is he becoming a major site?”
Yes, quite; he’s got TAPPED feeding to him, of course.
Now, I’m still on Crooked Timber’s main list; try using them! 🙂 (Aw, hell, just give me a try now and again.)
I linked to Wonkette immediately, against the highly unlikely chance that Rittenhouse might accidentally link to me. It could happen.
And as soon as I can figure out what the rest a yez did to get Yglesias to delink you, I’m going to use it. Unless you copyright it or something, in which case I might be willing to pay the royalty.
Went to your place yesterday, Gary. read most of the page, followed the link to the fantasy series review, clicked a little of your link list.
Notice that Yglesias no longer links Calpundit, or at least failed to find it; would presume conflict of two leftish DC political mags.
Don’t let the vast plutocracy corrupt the blogosphere. Please.
“Sorry, I’m not good at including smileys…”
De nada and sorry for snapping at ya. 🙂
Thank you, Bob. You are a gentleman and a scholar, and the degree of your qualities as such will consist of how often you engage in this behavior per day.
🙂 (See, the problem with your smily, Moe is that ohmigod, where’s your nose?!)
