Something is going on in Pakistan regarding the pursuit of a high-level al Queda operative; possibly Ayman al-Zawahiri, deputy of OBL. There’s an indication that he’s been tracked down and close to capture – which, if true, would be excellent news, not least because with him in Coalition hands we stand a much better chance of finding out just what happened to his boss. They’re also tracking this over at Tacitus, Regnum Crucis and Winds of Change; check ’em out.

I hope this is true.
Even if it means four more years of you-know-who.
I’d quibble the ‘close to capture’. From the looks of things, it may happen, but it’s more likely people will be coming out of there in a wooden overcoat.
Like I said over at Tacitus, I’m suspicious of anything with this much pre-capture PR. Powell’s in the region giving them favourable ally status, which means more access to weapons, and I think they’re eager to prove how effective they are at hunting down terrorists. But I suspect that it’s bogus.
It just doesn’t make sense to advertise the hell out of capturing someone that you don’t even know for sure is in the area that’s under attack. Unless you either already have them in custody, or you’re trying to impress the neighbours.
