Apologies if the above does not mean Happy Passover: I don’t speak Hebrew.
Anyway, no doubt a good number of you already know, tonight is the first night of the Jewish holiday of Passover. While not Jewish myself, I think that it is not inappropriate for me to wish those of the Jewish** faith a happy and safe festival. Gut Yontiff*!
Moe
PS: It’d be nice to have somebody who was keeping track of Islamic holidays for us as well; if only there was a coblogger here who had, say, a Muslim partner…
*I don’t actually speak Yiddish, either, although being from the Tri-State area I apparently have more than most of the rest of the country.
**As longtime reader Jesurgislac (back from AZ, and hopefully refreshed) reminds us, there is a Googlebomb going on regarding the word Jew. This one I don’t mind participating in at all: the current #1 site is an obscene little thing.
Happy Passover to Vons of Newton Centre, Mass!
to Vons
Erm, as the designated Grammer God, that probably should be “the Vons.” (Tough gig.)
Happy Passover
For some reason, I feel like looking up the ritual, forgive if it isn’t a ritual
“Why is this night different….etc”
Maybe I could try to explain why, as a gentile, it has always moved me, but nah, I just gonna google a little
Pesach
Oy vey, the above was ignorant. I will be less so soon.
(Oh, full disclosure, though the vons of Newton Centre are Jewish, this von be a goy. But I’m still havin’ a good time, and best Passover wishes to all.)
I’ve only ever been to one Passover supper, but oddly enough, Bob, I find the ordinary Shabbat meal moves me very much – making a ceremony and ritual of eating together, sharing wine, thanking God for the ordinary, good things of life. (And me an atheist: but I find that it resonates with me, to praise ordinary things, like wine, and bread, and shared meals with good friends.)
Chag Pesach Sameach is right!!
