In a way, it’s impressive.

The way that Reuters managed to write an article about blogs and their effect on the campaign (“Blogs Abuzz with Gossip in Caustic U.S. Campaign”) without ever actually mentioning a single one by name. Except for Salon, which I wouldn’t say really counts as a blog, per se.

No, really, this one was like a haddock slapped in everybody’s faces. I mean, obviously I’m not on dKos’ Christmas list or anything, but to have a groundbreaking, massive, year-long multiphased fundraising effort condensed to

Many bloggers have been so partisan that they have even raised money for the candidate of their choice — something that has led most media watchers to take much of what appears on the sites with more than a grain of salt.

  1. I’ll refrain from clicking through. . only so many precious seconds in the day. But that blockquote is hilarious.
It reeks of ‘These horseless carriages are now so popular it’s not uncommon to see one or two a day in a major metropolis’

  2. Reuters = Dinosaur.
Dkos has raised a boatload o’ cash as you know. And the site meter cannot measure the traffic at present as it’s beyond the 30,000 per hour capability.

  3. We should find a hard copy of that, have it framed, and then send it to reuters a year from now, when they’re thought of only nostagically.

  4. Actually, they cast Salon in the role of a non-blog, patiently sorting out the wheat from the chaff. And you gotta love this chracterization of blogs
“said Vanity Fair media critic Michael Wolff, characterizing the new form of overtly-biased journalism as “the voice of the mob.” (though this sounds like something definitely taken out of context)
It’s also interesting that they have the ‘earpiece’ theory, but don’t mention the ‘Kerry had notes’. You could look at that either way, putting the meme out means they’re libs, not noting the Kerry one means they’re leaning conservative, but I would simply call them clueless and leave it at that.
