Give Yourself Nightmares

Via Pharyngula I found the website of the St. Andrew’s Perception Laboratory’s Face Transformer. It lets you upload an image of your face and then morph it in various ways. I made the mistake of trying the transformation called ‘Botticelli’ first: it made me look quite nice, very much like someone who’d feel at home wafting in on a sea-shell. This was a mistake since it lulled me into letting down my guard and trying the rest. ‘Modigliani’ just made me look a bit unhinged, but when I tried transforming myself into a man, a West Indian, an Afro-Caribbean, and worst of all, an Ape-Man — well, let’s just say that you should ask yourself, seriously, whether you really want to know what you’d look like if you were half chimpanzee and half human, since if you click that innocent-looking button you will find out.

Botticelli was nice, though.

  1. … i should add…
i’ve got a ‘baby face’. even at 34, even if i’m sporting a full beard, i get carded buying beer. the dark-skinned variations got rid of that and made me look like an actual adult, somehow. the other human variations just looked like … me.
    not that dark-skin = bad-ass , etc.
