Somehow, I missed this remark President Bush made yesterday, about Iraq:
“I thought we would succeed quicker than we did, and I am disappointed by the pace of success.”
Disappointed by the pace of success. I love it. Here’s a picture of Wile E. Coyote being similarly disappointed by his rate of ascent:
Farce _and_ tragedy.
Bush got animated.
From rilke’s link:
Bush, Durbin said, “reacted very strongly. He got very animated in his response” and emphasized that he is “the commander in chief.”
This reminds me of an anecdote from college. Fred Savage (yes, that Fred Savage) happened to be in a constitutional law class with me and was attempting to answer a question on why the President had the power to do something. He answered, “well, he’s the commander, and the chief.”
Actually, I’m feeling more like Wile E. Coyote, with Bush as the CEO of Acme.
Like fine wine, evolution, and a game of Monopoly
Hilzoy found this gem of a quote from Herr Preznit yesterday regarding Iraq:
I thought we would succeed quicker than we did, and I am disappointed by the pace of success.
_Im_ disappointed in our leaders short-sightedness. …
