This is a very interesting PJ O’Rourke / Colin Powell interview that Macallan found – and I’m not just saying that because Elvis was mentioned in the course of it.

P. J. O’Rourke has long been one of my favorite humorists. His eccentric brand of libertarianism strongly tempered with a combination of common sense and hard liquor has always resonated strongly with me.

P. J. O’Rourke has long been one of my favorite humorists. His eccentric brand of libertarianism strongly tempered with a combination of common sense and hard liquor has always resonated strongly with me.
I’ll say two things:
1) If there were any justice in the unoverse, Colin Powell would have headed up the GOP Presidential ticket in 2000, and
2) It’s too bloody bad that nitwits like Coulter, Hannity, and Limbaugh are trotted out as “conservative voices” instead of O’Rourke, who is not only funnier, but a hell of a lot smarter.
O’Rourke is those things, JKC, but he is not a social conservative with regard to a lot of things.
