Lo, the prophecy is fulfilled

The other day, I posted a rant directed at Glenn Reynolds, which ended like this:

Saying “I’m against torture” is all well and good. But abstract opposition is not worth much, when your response to credible allegations that your government condones torture is to ignore the evidence, blame the messenger, and change the subject.

And if none of that convinces you, I’ve even graciously provided ammunition for an argument that it’s Bill Clinton’s fault!

Sure enough, today I noticed this post (the second update).

As far as I can tell, this is the first link on the torture-by-proxy issue ever to appear on Instapundit. Google searches of the site for “extraordinary rendition“, “rendition“, “Arar“, and “Canadian deported Syria” turned up no relevant links.

I guess I asked for it. I was mainly being sarcastic, but thought there was some chance Clinton’s “extraordinary renditions” would make it okay to admit Bush’s, and maybe–just maybe–cut it out with the incessant, snide”MORE CRUSHING OF DISSENT” posts. Oh well. Live and learn.

  1. With all the attention that Maher Arar was getting on the blogs, with the 60 Minutes II story and with all the other attention, I cannot believe that Glenn was unaware.
I always thought the Tennessee river flowed near Knoxville, not Denial.

  2. Ah, Glen. The AOL of blogging. And he doesn’t even send me free coasters.
By the way, now that I’ve learned that the Best Western in Moses Lake has a wi-fi hotspot, I’m fairly sure the End is Near.
