Couple of Questions and a statement.

1). The girlfriend and I plan to visit the World War II Memorial on Monday (yes, we know about the likely crowds, and yes, we know about the security issues). I don’t normally care about picture taking, but is there any interest on this from our loyal readers?

2). Do DC political bloggers ever get together for a Bash… jeez, that sounds like a personals ad, or maybe an age/sex check. Still, it seems like every other city has partying political bloggers; you’d think that our nation’s capital would sponsor one…

3). I hope everyone out there has a reflective and SAFE Memorial Day weekend, including those out there too busy defending us to have the time to read this weblog.

  1. Moe: We do indeed get together for bashes. We haven’t got one scheduled, but that’s just because we didn’t know you were coming. Absolutely we’ll throw something together for you. How long will you be around? E-mail me.

Jim, I live here; have since 2001. No need to put on a special spread, just let me know about the next one. 🙂

  3. ” Seems like there’s about a gazillion of us in the metro area.”
Then getting about twenty(?) or so of us together for some drinks should not be an insurmountable task. 🙂

  4. I wouldn’t mind walking over on Monday. I’m leaving DC in a month and it’d be a shame not to see it. I’m probably even willing to face the ongoing threat of international tourism ;]
I think some pictures of it, this of all weekends, would make a fine post to conclude the holiday with and remind us that this is more than just the kickoff of beach season.

  5. I wish I could be in DC this weekend. From the images I’ve seen so far they did a magnificent job of representing the grandeur of mission and heartbreaking heorism of that most epic of conflicts. It’s also well past time those who fought were paid this honor. Please do share the images Moe. Looking forward to being there, if only vicariously.

  6. Sheesh. Listen to all you folks from DC. If I wanted a Seattle blogger’s bash, who would I get? Bird Dog and Dave Neiwert. 😉
Now /THAT/ would be hellishly entertaining to watch. I’m just saying.

I would appreciate photos of the monument on Memorial Day. Those with the vets as subjects would be especially welcomed.
    Thanks.

  8. As to question #1 – I’d be interested in some pictures. Like Tim Noah, I like the memorial, even if all the kool kids say I’m not supposed to.

Hey, there are others who lurk in the moist shadows.

  10. Moe, if you ever get a DC blogger bash together, try to hold it a tad south of the city so I can make it. And do it on a weekend, for gods sake!
I live in Richmond, but I’d like to drive up. I doubt I’d have much luck trying to organize a Richmond bloggers bash. Pretty much just me and Meryl Yourish.

  11. I’d come to something in Richmond, but only if it was held at 2:00 am on a Wednesday. Otherwise I’d be sitting on 95 for days!
If and when anyone ever plans to get together, drop me an e-mail. I’m always good for picking up at least one round of drinks, so really, how can you turn that down?

  12. What’s with all the political bloggers in DC? Stupid beltway. .
Yeah. Let me know when you want to schedule a blogger’s bash in (what is widely regarded as) the navel of the Earth: Indianapolis.
(That said, I do travel to Wash. D.C. and the tech. corridor roundabouts Vienna, Va. from time to time; if I’m lucky, maybe I’ll get to drop in.)
