Tonight’s Moe forecast is for heavy bookishness with scattered blogging (that’s what my girlfriend called it): I finally acquired the new Neal Stephenson this evening and the sooner I read it the sooner I can stop lugging it around. Great books, but they’re blessed heavy.

You know, I consumed and enjoyed Cryptonomicon like a /fiend/, but I couldn’t finish more than the first few hundred pages of Quicksilver. I bought it in hardback straight away, and it’s just been sitting there as a paperweight.
It’s made me rather reluctant to pick up the next offing. What did you think of Quicksilver?
“What did you think of Quicksilver?”
It made the discovery of calculus spine-tingling, and I’m still not entirely certain how. 🙂
I’ll note, though, that it took me much longer to read than usual: I can usually plow through a book that size in about three, four days, but this one took me three weeks of read, stop, do something else, read, stop, do something else, etc, etc, etc… so if you’re used to starting and going all the way through, that might explain your sudden stall.
