  1. Good news? Okay. But Whedon’s obsession with this, or at least his divided attention, is why the last season of Buffy, and what now turns out to be the last season of Angel, sucked when it did.
So, I’m of mixed emotions. And wonder aloud: is the Firefly cast comparable to that of the other Whedon shows mentioned?

  2. Harley,
Buy the Firefly DVD and decide for yourself. I really doubt you’ll be disappointed. Cast wise, it’s favorably comparable, in my opinion – there’s no dead weight there at all.
Everything about that show was spot on, except of course the support from Fox.
Can’t wait for the film, and I sure hope it vaults them back onto TV.

  3. See, Moe, I mention I’m blogging because I’m all whimpery and teary over how is it that I’ve been blogging for more than two years, but, say, a post will get four or more comments here and none on my own blog? (This is not an uncommon phenomenon.)
Where do you get all your commenters from?
And much as I enjoy your splendid blog here — I wouldn’t be reading and commenting, myself, otherwise — how is it that you’re getting four hundred or more hits a day after a couple of months, and if I’m not much-linked, I’ll limp by on two hundred or so (most of which are from search engines)?
    Whine. Whimper.
Sniffle. And now I’m going to feel sorry for myself!

  4. Two hundred or so is limping? Dang, I thought I was hobbling along nicely, myself.
    Whine. Whimper.
Guess I’ll go comment on Gary’s blog. Misery likes company.

  5. “Where do you get all your commenters from?”
We were both fortunate and careful in our choice of blogfathers (you can actually do the latter, on the web): of the original triumvirate, two were guest bloggers for Tacitus* and the third was a regular poster whose comments were practically screaming, “Give this woman a blog!”
That gave us our core audience, which we’ve since kept and expanded by way of a judiciously calibrated diet of posts on a wide variety of topics. It’s probably not much of a surprise that the poster here are mostly Left-leaning while Tac’s bloggers are mostly Right-leaning: I had a bit of influence over the selection process for the former, and I was looking for a mix where we could pull in materials across the spectrum. It seems to have worked out.
    Moe
*Which we all still comment at, and von and I even toss in the occasional guest blog post there.

  6. Give them to me! Give me your commenters/readers!
(This is a generic demand to all good blogs.)
I weel shoot this leetle dog if you do not comply!
I have a wildly uncalibrated diet of posts on a wide variety of topics! We offer real butter on the posts! With salt! You can get fries with them! (We are not phasing out super-sizing at this time.)
And all by myself I completely politically confuse everyone, I’m so friggin’ eclectic! (That’s one of my problems, I think, actually; I tend to piss off righties with one post, lefties with another, libertarians with yet another, and I rarely throw red meat to anyone; I’m in a niche of suspicious inquiries of “wait, he’s not on our side, is he?)
Besides, I’m actually entirely boring. Tedious, even. Not to mention juvenile and geeky.
But, you know, in a mostly grammatical way. For the kids.
I really should simply write rants about how Bush/Clinton are just like Hitler! That seems to be the most popular niche in blogging. Democrats/Republicans are so stupid!
Instead, I ramble through an endless series of odd topics, driven solely by whim, convincing visitors that because I’m posting a lot on a given topic within a few days that that must be all I ever write about, and so they journey on, the linking road going ever on, ho Tom Bombadil, hey, oh, all right, I’ll stop now.
    Go, me. Go away now.
    Remember the dog.
