Who Are These Slackers?

So The Pew Internet and American Life Project suggest that the majority of bloggers are somewhat casual about the whole thing.

“The impression out there is that a lot of the blog activity is very feverish,” said Lee Rainie, the Pew project’s director. “That’s not the case. For most bloggers, it’s not an all-consuming, all-the-time kind of experience.”

Of course there’s a nagging voice in the back of my mind where images of the Matrix-like pods mix with Wintermute/Neuromancer’s “diabolical” goals and blogging is suspected of being some AI’s entry into total mind control of the world {insert sinister laugh here}…and then I step outside and go have a beer…

  1. I guess that, fundamentally, it comes down to where you set the quotation marks – who’s allowed under the Blogger Umbrella? Are we saying anyone who’s ever had a Blogspot site? Or only those who blog a minimum of once a week?
Obviously the majority of people who have blogged at least once is going to fit the slacker description – they never did it again.

Bah. Never understood what was so special about Neo, anyway. Any competent Buddhist would’ve grasped that There Was No Spoon right away and skipped right ahead to the groovey ultraviolence…
