Massachusetts’ Supreme Judicial Court has finally decided their gay marriage case. AP story here. The headline is somewhat misleading; they leave the remedy to the legislature with a 180 day deadline, much like the Baker court in Vermont.
This is probably bad for Dean’s campaign. I don’t care. It’s the right thing to do, and I’m proud of my state.
I’ll have more to say on this later. For now, consider this your open thread.
Let’s hear it for the People’s Republic of Massachussets! (Kidding, this is good news)
The People’s Republic is just Cambridge, I think (the city of over 100,000 where Nader actually beat Bush. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if that also happened in some other college towns.)
Sorry, Katherine, our posts crossed. (Great minds and all . . . .) I’ve modified mine to reference yours.
Where’s my blue!! Oh, and a modest suggestion. The recent guest blogger stint at Tacitus was highlighted by the occasional, heaven forfend, non-political thread. Music, etc. Yglesias had one up yesterday, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he picked up one of his highest comment counts ever. Because it’s fun. Because it’s a brief respite from disputation. Because I bet Vinteuil and I could agree about something.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
What, you didn’t like my link (yesterday) to the GbV article?
You’re right, though. We gotta work out the wonks.
Funny, the moment I hit post, I remembered same. Am still debating whether I need the latest five thousand track GbV box that came out last week (already picked up the handy best-of). And don’t forget, today is cognitive dissonance day at your local record store. The de-Spectorized Let It Be and the new Britney side by side!!
you’re right Harley. I’m not sure I can top Guided by Voices, though. Hmmm…what’s Up With People up to these days?
I think I’ll leave it to von or Moe, if Moe can find a way to post from work.
