archives(n.) c. 1600, “records or documents preserved as evidence,” from French archif (16c., Modern French archives), from Late Latin archivum (plural archiva) “written records,” also the place where they are kept, from Greek ta arkheia “public records,” plural of arkheion “town hall, public building,” from arkhÄ“ “government,” literally “beginning, origin, first place” (verbal noun of arkhein “to be the first;” see archon). Hi and welcome to the Obsidian Wings blog archive site. If you didn’t know, wandered over here by accident or are checking out some mention of Obsidian Wings that you may have come across, you have found what is basically the original site, which was hosted on Typepad. Typepad is going to shutdown on 30 Sept, 2025 and the content will not longer be available, and we have commenter Michael Caine to thank for extracting the posts and images from the old blog. I have transferred the posts and comments to this WordPress installation and we have the image files, which we can add if necessary, though the site was more of a text based effort. ObWi started in 2003, at the dawn of the age of blogging and the posts here represent over 2 decades of back and forth. The comments for all the posts except this one are closed, and the comments here are for people who have questions or requests concerning this archive.
A number of people said they wanted to keep things going, so there is a live site (https://www.obsidianwings.blog/) that will be continuing, so please check it out if you were wondering where the old place went to. I’ll be working on this site to try and make it look and feel a little more like the old site (here
is what it looked like) If you have suggestions or things you want to see here, please let me know.
